News and Information

Attention!

Due to extreme volatility in the markets managing price risk has become an increasingly difficult task.  Prices for hard red winter wheat, dark northern spring wheat, and hard white wheat are directly linked to the futures markets in Kansas City and Minneapolis.  These markets trade from 7:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Monday through Friday and during those hours directly affect the prices for these commodities locally.  Because of the widening range that these prices are trading it is extremely difficult to obtain a price for these wheat varieties during hours that the futures markets aren't trading.  For this reason AgVentures NW, LLC will no longer be offering prices for these varieties of wheat during the afternoon market.  We will also be adjusting morning market hours to 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for all commoditites.  Afternoon markets are still available for soft white, club, barley, canola, and corn and will be available from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Please let us know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

On this page are links to some helpful spreadsheets that you can use to calculate your return on investment and also evaluate what level of crop insurance is right for you.  If you haven't priced any new crop wheat yet or are wondering if you should be doing more this information can be useful in setting financial goals for the upcoming year.  Often times having set goals can help by removing some of the emotion that is always present when deciding on whether or not to make a sale.
